General Information Questions
I want to fill a table for this year's event. How do I do this?
During the Main Program (no cost associated), attendees will watch a livestream event from YouTube. You will not be assigned to a “table” during the Main Program. You and your friends will be able to chat in the YouTube comments but you will not be able to view other attendees video. An unlimited number of participants can attend the Main Program and it is free for all. So feel free to share the registration link to all of your friends and family!
During the VIP Reception (limited tickets available for $250 each), guests will have the opportunity to virtually mix and mingle with authors and other VIP Reception guests. However, guests will not be assigned to tables. Unlike past Literary Lions Gala events, authors will be assigned to virtual tables, and guests will be invited to choose which authors they want to meet.
What time does the event begin?
Our VIP Reception begins at 6 PM PST on Saturday, March 6th.
The livestream Main Program will start Saturday, March 6th at 7 PM PST.
The KCLSF's Author Salons opens Friday, March 5th at 10 AM and closes on Thursday, March 11th at 6 PM PST.
How do I register?
To register for the VIP Reception, click HERE and enter the number of tickets you would like to purchase under "Quantity". You will receive more information on how to join the VIP Reception closer to the event.
To register for the Main Program, click HERE and enter the number of tickets you would like under "Quantity". There is no cost associated with registration for the Main Program. You will receive more information on how to join the YouTube livestream closer to the event.
How do I watch the livestream Main Program?
You will need to register for the Main Program, click HERE to register. We will be sending the link to our YouTube livestream closer to the virtual Literary Lions Gala. Keep an eye on your email for important information regarding the virtual event!
How do I join the VIP Reception?
You will need to purchase your VIP Reception ticket, click HERE to purchase your ticket(s). We will be utilizing the website platform Remo, to connect with our featured authors. We will share the Remo link and instructions on how to navigate the Remo platform closer to the event.
How do I donate?

What are the Author Salons?
Author Salon sales open Friday, March 5 at 10 AM and closes on Thursday, March 11 at 6 PM PST. All of the author salons will be virtual in 2021 and will include a gourmet meal, a copy of the author’s book, and the exclusive opportunity to interact with exciting local authors. How do I join the Remo VIP Pre-Party Pop-in Party?
Please double-check your email and Junk folder for a message from KCLSF. An email was sent to you with the link for the VIP Pre-Party Pop-in.
How do I join the VIP Reception?
You will receive an email with the Remo link on Friday, March 5th. Make sure to check your Junk Folder. We will be sending an email reminder with the Remo link on Saturday before the virtual Literary Lions Gala. You must have purchased a VIP Reception ticket in order to receive the link. If you can not find the email, please email our Volunteer team at info@kclsfounation.org.
What does the VIP Reception include?
Join us one hour before our main program for an opportunity to connect with up to 30 of our featured authors! You will also receive a VIP Party Box filled with "book-lover" treats.
Where is the VIP Reception taking place/What is Remo?
The VIP reception will be hosted on Remo on Saturday, March 6 at 6 PM PST. Remo is an easy-to-use video chatting platform similar to Zoom, but with a fun and real-life feel! You will be able to video chat with people at your tables, and send chat messages to the General Chat, Table Chat, and Private Chat. IMPORTANT: Remo can only be accessed on a computer with a camera and microphone and is not supported on mobile devices or tablets.
What can you expect during the VIP Reception?
In Remo, you’ll login together with your household to join a virtual party space with multiple tables and floors. This year’s Literary Lions Authors will be seated at tables on the 2nd and 3rd floors. You can easily move from table to table to meet other guests and mingle with our esteemed authors. We’ll notify guests to move to a new table with a helpful chime, to ensure you get a chance to meet as many authors as you’d like. To interact, be sure to join with your camera and microphone turned on! Our Keynote, Colson Whitehead, will be popping in “live” to say a quick hello but please note that Colson Whitehead, Melinda Gates, and Kwame Alexander are unable to host tables during the VIP Reception.
How many people are included for each VIP Reception ticket?
Each VIP Reception ticket provides access for the purchaser and one member of their household.
Can I preview Remo before the VIP Reception on March 6th?
Yes! Please join us for a our VIP Pop-In Party on Thursday, March 4th from 5:00 - 6:00 PM PST to familiarize yourself with the Remo platform. You will receive a link in your email with more information closer to the VIP Pop-In Party.
What is the best internet browser to use Remo on?
We highly recommend using Google Chrome.
Where am I supposed to sit in Remo?
Wherever you would like! We're serious! You will have the opportunity to connect with this year's Literary Lions as well as our fellow guests. It is up to you to decide who you would like to connect with.
